Android TV vs Chromecast

1: Apps

You can run Chromecast Apps on Android TV but you cant run android tv apps on chromecast.

Winner: Android TV.

2: Gaming

You can play games on your phone and mirror it to your chromecast, with the lag it comes with, you can do that and play games right on the androidtv without any lag. I would recommend the $199 Sheild Pro fopr gaming, but the regualr $149 sheild will work, but with less stroage, no usbs, and no plex server.

Winner: Android TV + Sheild Pro

3: Devices

Android TV has more devices, but more china fakes, Chromecast has less devices, but most likey the same amoumt of fakes.

Like chromecast with chromecast built-in tv’s, there are android tv os built-in tv’s.

Winner: Android TV

4: Chromecast

You can cast your phone. tablet, and coumpter to both. The lag is the same

Winner: Both

5: Pritave Listening

You connet a pair of wireless earbuds to an android tv device or wired earbuds and a long cord or aux ext cord, Will, some remotes have a headphone jack. With a chromecast, you need wired earbuds and a long cord or aux ext cord.

Winner: Android TV

6: Remote

You can use your phone as remote on both chromecast and android tv by video/audio app, but you can use a real remote in an app on app on your phone or tablet.

Winner: Android TV

7: A.I.

Google Assistant is on AndroidTV unlike chromecast.

Winner: Depndes on who you are

Like google assistant: AndroidTV

Hate google assistant: Chromecast

About 68% of consumers are using AI so the winner will be AndroidTV

8: 中国假货 (Chinese Fakes)

There is a whole bunch of fake android tvs running asop, while chromecast fakes are less popualr.

Winner: Chromecast

9: ecosystem

Android TV works well outside the ecosystem, but not with chromecast, for example: you cant mirror an iPhone to a Chromecast, but you can mirror an iPhone to an android tv with a 3rd party app like Airscreen. Plus, you can use your iPhone as a remote for both. But you only have a real remote with the andriod tv remote app, which s on both iPhone and android. But only works with an android tv device.

Winner: Android TV

10: Features

Android TV has much more features than just casting, unlike the chromecast, where the only feature is casting.

Winner: Android TV

Upgrading my TV… adding a shield

The Blu-Ray player

So I have a TV, in my Bedroom it’s a Westinghouse (32-Inch Maybe) dumb HDTV that I got back in 2016, I used a Blu-Ray player with it but I am a cord-cutter so it’s not going to cut it. This Samsung Blu-Ray player has YouTube (It losses contention a lot), Netflix (Same thing), Hulu is no longer supported. VUDU, and thats about it. Rasie your hand if you use YUPPTV, I dont use it… Nobody, OK. I use YouTube (Premium), YouTube TV, Google Play Movies, Hulu, Netflix, VUDU, and STARZ. I plan to get more. You cant even install apps. Now I am not hating on Samsung, I have a Samsung tablet, Galaxy Buds, and some other Samsung proudcts, I am kind off deep in the Samsung ecosystem. Its just its an older blu-ray Player. And I use both SmartThings and the Google Home App. You cant use an HD Blu-Ray player with SmartThings, but you can use Google Home, SmartThings, and Amazon Alexa with the sheild

Will, I am getting the $200 Shield TV Pro with a stand.

Yep, it has more streaming services than the Blu-Ray Player. And I can play real games, use my mobile device as a remote, and more. Plus, it has a $70 Chromecast Ultra built-in. I have an HDTV, so I cant make use of the 4K, but if i upgrade, I will. I will update you when I get the sheild. I plan to keep my Blu-Ray player to watch blu-rays.
